About this site
Hi, I'm Harry.
I live in the UK and work as a freelance graphic artist and illustrator. My stuff mainly ends up in brochures - nothing too cool I'm afraid but it keeps me fed, watered and clothed so can't complain.
But when I'm not cloning out dust spots for a central heating media campaign I'm often nose deep in Elle Decor or Living.etc. Usually to be found sat in the comfy chairs in the local Costa in Didsbury with my head full of interior design. Sat back in the armchair and wistfully thinking of pastel colours and geometric shapes. I'm a big fan of all things home decor and I'm slowly looking at putting together a portfolio of ideas. Ideas and inspiration first - action after!
I really love all the big bold colours and patterns that are permeating through current trends. From high end design houses like Roche Bobois through to the high street and online, these real chunky toothy tones and hues seem almost futuristic but with a blend of the 60s and 70s. I love them! As fabrics, wallpapers, posters and more arrive, I'll be your first port of call to get the news on whats new and whats worth looking out for. My aim is to spot the trends before they arrive and we can watch them together as they seep through to the mainstream.
I haven't quite got a crystal ball (its just the way I sit) but I've got the passion and eye to see whats coming through and relay the trends to you. If I spot any retailers - online or otherwise - that clearly have something going on, I'll mention them here with links to what I think is the cool stuff.
Outside of interior design and work, I'm a fan of live music (usually over at the Academy or Ruby Lounge) and also movies down at Home. For food - sure I'm a fan but not exactly a huge foodie so you'll be let off the tirade of pics of my plate.
I'll try to keep this place on topic but if I see or hear something I need to share, click the next button if its not your bag!
As I put together comments and articles I'll make sure to fill with as many images - I live in Pinterest! - as possible and ensure this blog is a visual feast. The great thing with design, and its probably the reason why there are still so many magazines, is that its all so visual, so arresting. Its probably the reason as well why the mags are so full of ads - thats probably another post.....
My fundamental reasoning here was that I wanted somewhere to write and discuss the best of the interior design on the web as I find it. To start discussions on current and upcoming design. I'll keep my eyes and ears fixed on the horizon but if you see something that gets you hot under the collar, make sure you shout up too! We're in this together!
As I say, I wanted to have a place I could write openly about new stuff and inspiration.
This is that place.
Please enjoy and I look forward to hearing your responses once I've put together content.
